Mobilizing Your Workforce

Prepare Yourself Before You Start The Project

Your project should be profitable if you control and monitor it from the beginning, there are three steps to take to make sure you mobilize your workforce properly and generate profits.

You can follow these three simple steps throughout your project life cycle.  But to start your project off on the right track you need to follow the steps below.

1. Print Materials Lists

This is one of the easiest ways to keep track of what materials and equipment are needed for your project.  You begin by contacting your materials suppliers and making sure that you have access to all the materials and equipment needed to start and complete the project.  You can prepare a checklist and print it out for your reference.  List all the materials and equipment and keep track estimated and actual quantities of materials, equipment and of the cost assigned to each item and category.

2. Get Your Project Schedule

If you feel overwhelmed with starting the project then just study your schedule and make sure you have your staff in place to complete the project.  If you are using sub-trades then send them emails advising them of when you will need them on site.  Your schedule will give you important project milestones that need to be met.
Prepare yourself and your staff immediately, this will allow you to relax a little and begin the process of monitoring the project life cycle.

3. Monitor And Control

Preparing your materials list, equipment list and reviewing your schedule is the beginning of monitoring and controlling your project.  Your project must be monitored and controlled from the
beginning to the end of each project to make sure that you protect your profits, complete your project on schedule and build a quality product.

You need to monitor and control your budget, materials, equipment expenses, rental costs and labour costs.

As you can see, you have to be diligent and prepare yourself for success from the beginning.

Try to follow these 3 steps throughout your project life cycle to see the great results you can produce.  Following these steps will give you a process that you can use over and over to make sure that every project is profitable and of great quality workmanship.

I wish you the best of luck!
